NASLOV: Optimizing the Asset Life-Cycle with Digital Asset Management

The Internet of Things and the analysis of big data enable an much more efficient and reliable planning, monitoring and maintenance of electricity, gas and water networks. Close collaboration with other utilities and with the suppliers of the grid assets through a business network improves the management of the asset life-cycle even further. SAP now combines and integrates all the required solutions for such a comprehensive approach – the traditional Enterprise Asset Management solutions, IoT solutions like Predictive Maintenance and SAP’s Asset Intelligence business network. Thus it will be possible to leverage all available data of the grid assets and to involve all relevant stakeholders.


After finishing his PhD in physics at the TU Munich, Gero Bieser joined the SAP Industry Business Unit Utilities in 1997. Since then he worked on a wide range of subjects – from Enterprise Asset Management to Customer Relationship Management and Smart Meters– and has been involved in numerous consulting projects in the global utility industry. In addition, he developed standard SAP implementation tools, led software development projects and collaborated with SAP Research on Smart Grid topics. Currently he focuses on how to leverage the latest SAP technology to integrate IT and OT systems to enable smart electricity and water networks.
